MISSION ENGAGE X
Many young Australians leave secondary education without any academic aspirations and no clear vision or understanding of themselves or their future life.
These youth aren't always law-abiding, the may live at home and they aren't overly engaged in the community, social or sporting clubs.
Without a clear direction, these youth can become disengaged, leading to low self-esteem, isolation, drug and alcohol abuse, crime and long-term unemployment.
WHAT IS MISSION ENGAGE X?
Mission Engage X is a ten-day program with a serious physical component for 14-20-year-old Australians without a clear vision of their future and whose school, sporting and social experiences have failed to inspire confidence or a strong sense of self.
Encompassing martial arts training, soccer, AFL, and basketball instruction, along with character and moral formation, Mission Engage's purpose is for these individuals to have a better understanding of themselves but also:
-
Increased abilities in attention and respect;
-
A clearer sense of achievable ambitions;
-
The art of welcoming and overcoming adversity;
-
The ability to take controlled risks; and
-
Facing up to our weaknesses and fragilities.
The program, under the direction of Fr James Grant but employing the skills of Program Director Jodi Mills, encourages a new sense of service to others which leads to drive, purpose and life vocations.
