Fr James Grant Foundation and Crown Christmas Markets kick off the season of giving
The true spirit of Christmas is set to shine this weekend as the Father James Grant Foundation partners with Crown Melbourne to present Christmas Markets at the Crown Riverwalk on December 11 and 12.
Running from 11am to 11pm this Saturday and Sunday, the event will feature over 20 stalls and celebrate the season of giving around the world. Roving entertainment, a visit from Santa and traditional Christmas fare will be among the festivities on offer in an event set to delight the entire family.
A highlight of the activities will be a jewellery making stall where young people can discover their creative talents, and other activities to harness the spirit of the season.
Father James Grant explained the Father James Grant Foundation had a long-standing relationship with Crown via the Mission Engage Programs.
Mission Engage provides young people looking to find meaningful employment with access to workplace training and life skills, and Crown Melbourne is one of many big names supporting the cause.
“Crown has provided work experience and mentoring for a number of years and seen the benefits of investing in young people through employment training. As a result it seemed only natural the Foundation would return that goodwill through an event which celebrated the spirit of giving,” Fr Grant said.
“We were eager to support them in return during this season of celebration, while raising awareness of our Mission Engage programs.”
A Crown spokesperson noted their involvement in the programs had yielded a number of benefits to the community and organisation at a time when youth unemployment was at its highest in years.
“The program is like a month-long interview where we get to see employees in different workplace circumstances. This allows our management to learn new techniques while our human resourcing team is able to spot young talent and take the opportunity to empower and mould them as a perfect asset for our business.”
